Journal

If you’ve been peepin’ my page in the last week or two, you know that I was in Cambodia the other week. Well, I didn’t just do the normal “tourist stuff” while I was there. I hopped on many a bus & headed into deep down Cambodia. Luckily, I met a local girl named Sothea & she showed me around a bit of her country. Well one day we took a bus for 6hrs to the village of Battambang. The drive there was SO cool ’cause we were on a double decker bus & we had the front row seat. So it was like a wide screen real life Cambodian adventure movie. Oh, and don’t think that we were on the highways. I don’t think highwways exist there. We were on these cool little (BUMPY!) roads all through the villages & stuff. Was so cool. Her parents live way out in the sticks in Battambang. We were on a dirt road for miles to get there. And as you will see from the pics below, we went to her parent’s house for lunch. Was such a COOL experience! They had no running water. I don’t think they had electicity. But they DID have happiness! Peep:

dsc00324Another view from the front seat. This time driving through a little village. Like I said, freeways do not exist in Cambodia. Shoot, I think paved roads are still kind of new!

dsc00350Sothea & I stopped to get some farm fresh goodies to bring to her parents’. I’ve never seen so many fruits & vegetables that I’ve never seen before. Ha ha…

dsc00354Now we are on a motorcycle taxi. This is one of the many dirt roads that we had to take to get to Sothea’s parent’s house. And yes, we are 3 deep on the motorcycle.

dsc00303When we rolled up, I was kind of surprised that her family lived in a glorified shed. But they were as happy as can be!

dsc00305Here’s part of Sothea’s family. Aunt, niece, dad, & sister. Like I said, super happy & super nice people. Just goes to show, money can’t buy love & happiness.

dsc00371Sothea asked me “Do you want coconut?” I was like “Sure.” (I love drinking coconuts!) -And before I knew it, her dad scaled up the tree & cut down some coconuts! Was soo cool. So “real.” Look closely & you will see him up in the tree.

dsc00372Here’s her dad hookin’ up the coconut for me. Yumm!

dsc00378They needed some more food for lunch, so they had to run out to the store. Yes, ALL five of them on one scooter! Look closely & count again….

dsc00302Ahh, lunch is served! I think this was their dining room table. So real. Soo cool. The food was so good. Man, I loved it.

dsc00376Ahhh, Wildman chillin’ after a good Cambodian lunch! Rough life…
